Havasu – Racer Killed at Jet ski races

A 36-year-old Italian man has been killed in a three-boat collision during an international jet ski race on Lake Havasu.

Scott Frazier, executive director of the International Jet Sports Boating Association, says Cesare Vismara of Porto Cervo was killed Friday.

Frazier says it was the first fatal at the event in nearly three decades.

The watercraft collided in front of the viewing stands on the beach.

Rescuers pulled Vismara from the water and paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Frazier says Vismara was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jet Ski Team Serbia president Veljko Sukalo says Vismara had raced with the team for three years and was due to receive his Serbian citizenship next week.

Racing was set to resume Saturday.

Regarding racing accident during IJSBA World Finals

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz.—

Statement from:

Scott Frazier IJSBA Executive Director:

“All of us with the IJSBA are deeply saddened by the death today of one of our competitors during an early afternoon PWC runabout race on Lake Havasu. While the accident remains under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department, Cesare Visrara of Italy succumbed to injuries he sustained when his personal watercraft was hit by that of another competitor.

“Our IJSBA rescue team was immediately on the scene and additional assistance was provided from the on-shore paramedics. Visrara was declared dead at the venue and his body was transported to a local hospital.

“We are deeply grieved by this horrible accident and in consultation with the other competitors at the event, postponed all racing until Saturday morning. This was the first time in the nearly three decades of this event that we have had an incident like this one.

“Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the Visrara family and all of his friends here at the event.”
